Waard's early start in hockey led her to join SCHC in Bilthoven, Netherlands. Under the guidance of coaches Nettie van Maasakker at the club level and Alyson Annan for the national team, she has honed her skills as a midfielder.

International Debut

In 2013, Waard made her international debut for the Netherlands against Australia. This significant event took place during an international tournament held in South Africa. Her performance on the international stage has been consistently impressive since then.

Injuries and Comebacks

Waard faced a significant setback in November 2015 when she underwent shoulder surgery. This injury sidelined her for over three months. However, demonstrating resilience, she made a successful return to the field in February 2016.

Awards and Honours

Waard's talent has not gone unnoticed. She received the Best Junior Player award at the semifinal stage of the 2014/15 World League in Brasschaat, Belgium. Additionally, in 2014, she was named Young Female Sports Talent of the Year in Gelderland province.

Ambassadorial Role

Beyond her athletic achievements, Waard serves as an ambassador for 'Make-A-Wish NL'. This charity is dedicated to helping seriously ill children in the Netherlands. Her involvement highlights her commitment to giving back to the community.
