Evgeny, known affectionately as "Zhenya," resides in Gomel, Belarus. He is both an athlete and a student, fluent in Russian. His journey in weightlifting began at the age of nine after trying various sports like swimming, running, and football. A visit to the gym with a friend sparked his interest in weightlifting.

He trains at the Stayki Republican Olympic Training Centre in Minsk, Belarus. His personal coaches are Mikhail Rabikovsky and Valery Sizianok. Their guidance has been instrumental in his development as a weightlifter.
In 2019, Evgeny suffered a hip injury during training just before the World Championships in Pattaya, Thailand. To avoid worsening the injury, his coaches switched him from the 96kg category to the 102kg category. This change allowed him to avoid losing extra weight before the competition.
Evgeny's sporting philosophy is unique. He believes in individuality and does not look up to anyone. "I believe that every person is very individual, so I don't look up to anyone. I'm just trying to become better," he said.
He has been honoured with the title of Master of Sport of International Class in Belarus. This recognition highlights his dedication and achievements in weightlifting.
After major competitions, Evgeny ensures he rests for at least two weeks. The first week is dedicated to complete relaxation from the sport, while the second week involves moderate physical activity. He believes that proper rest is crucial for future productivity.
Looking ahead, Evgeny aims to compete at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. This goal reflects his ongoing commitment to excelling in weightlifting on an international stage.
Outside of weightlifting, Evgeny enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, playing computer games, and taking walks. These hobbies provide a balance to his rigorous training schedule.
Evgeny's journey from a young boy experimenting with various sports to becoming a recognised weightlifter is inspiring. His dedication, philosophy, and future ambitions continue to drive him forward in his athletic career.
