Yulimar Rojas Biography

Rojas experimented with high jump, 100m hurdles, and long jump before discovering her talent in triple jump. She currently represents FC Barcelona in Spain and has been coached by Ivan Pedroso since 2015. Pedroso has been a significant influence on her career.

Achievements and Milestones

Rojas' most memorable sporting achievement came in September 2019 when she jumped 15m 41cm in Andujar, Spain. She considers this moment more important than her Olympic medal. In 2016, she became the first female competitor from Venezuela to win an Olympic medal by securing silver at the Rio de Janeiro Games.

In 2017, she made history again by becoming the first Venezuelan to win a gold medal in athletics at an outdoor world championship. She achieved this feat in London. A year earlier, she had won gold at the World Indoor Championships in Portland, USA.

Rojas has received numerous accolades throughout her career. In 2020, she was named Female Athlete of the Year by World Athletics. She was also recognised as the Best Female Sportswoman of Latin America and the Caribbean in 2017 and 2019.
