Cao Zhongrong Biography

Cao's most memorable sporting achievement came in 2012 when he won a silver medal at the London Olympic Games. This accomplishment made him the first Chinese athlete to win a medal in modern pentathlon at the Olympics. In recognition of his success, he received the Sport Honour Medal from the General Administration of Sport of China in 2012.

Throughout his career, Cao faced several injuries. In 2013, he fractured a bone in his leg. He also suffered from a lumbar disc herniation that required three months of recovery. In April 2015, he injured a tendon in his right wrist during training, necessitating surgery. Despite these setbacks, he returned to competition within six weeks.

After the 2013 National Games in Liaoning, China, Cao retired from modern pentathlon. However, he made a comeback in 2014 with the goal of competing at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
