Virat Kohli (919) is also on the verge of creating history of making 1000 T20 runs in a single IPL season. The Delhi batsman needs just 81 runs to touch the magical figure of 1000 T20 runs and become the first batsman in Twenty20 history.

Will Virat Kohli set another world record?

With his team finishing second in the IPL points table, Kohli will play a minimum of two matches, in the play-offs, to achieve this mammoth feat.

The previous highest, across all T20 leagues, was held by Chris Gayle and Michael Hussey with 733 runs during IPL 2012 and 2013, respectively.

Sensational Kohli broke two more records during match against Delhi:

Virat Kohli, who is the highest run-getter in the history of IPL, broke two more records in the game against Delhi.

The RCB skipper, who is in stupendous form in the season, made his 17th fifty in this year which is most by a batsman in a single year. The right-handed batter went past his RCB teammate Chris Gayle's previous best of 16 (in 2012).

With his 54*, the Delhi lad also went past England's Jason Roy's record of most 50-plus scores in a T20 tournament.

Kohli became the first batsman to score ten 50+ scores in any T20 tournament. Roy had scored 9 in Natwest T20 Blast in 2014.

With this win, RCB climbed to second spot in points table with 16 points from 14 games and thus qualify for play-offs. They will now face Gujarat Lions in the first Qualifier 1 on May 24 in Bengaluru and if his side loses in against Gujarat, they will play a match in the eliminator round too.
