The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Players' Auction will be held on December 19 but all ten franchises have already sprung into action. The franchises have reportedly figured out the players they are going to retain for the next edition of the premier domestic T20 competition.

The IPL 2024 Auction, which will be held in Dubai, is going to be hosted outside India for the first time. The IPL players' transfer window ahead of the players' auction is open and we might see some teams making use of it in the coming days.

Chennai Super Kings, the winners of IPL 2023, have released star England all-rounder Ben Stokes, whom the franchise acquired last year with a whopping bid of Rs. 16.25 crore. Ambati Rayudu who has retired from the IPL is also released by the Chennai-based franchise.

Delhi Capitals have released young India batter Prithvi Shaw, and senior India discard Manish Pandey amongst others. Odean Smith, Dasun Shanaka, and Yash Dayal are the big names released by Gujarat Titans ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction.

In what comes as a major surprise to Kolkata Knight Riders fans, Andre Russell - the swashbuckling Jamaican - has been released by the two-time champions. Lockie Furguson and Shakib Al Hasan have also been released by KKR.

Lucknow Super Giants have decided to let go of pacers Avesh Khan, Jaidev Unadkat, and Daniel Sams among others. Five-time champions Mumbai Indians have released Jofra Archer, who was bought at the IPL 2022 Auction despite being unavailable for selection for the IPL season. The franchise has also released four more players.

Punjab Kings have released leg-spinner Rahul Chahar besides parting ways with Matthew Short, Harpreet Bhatia, and Baltej Dhanda. Rajasthan Royals have released West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, along with Joe Root, KC Cariappa, and Murugan Ashwin.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have released Harshal Patel, Dinesh Karthik, Finn Allen, and Anuj Rawat ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction. Sunrisers Hyderabad have also increased their purse by offloading expensive players such as Harry Brook, Mayank Agarwal, Adil Rashid and Akeal Hossein.
