BCCI secretary Jay Shah has been elected as the next chairman of ICC, the apex body of cricket announced on Tuesday (August 27).
Greg Barclay, the current ICC Chairman, announced a week ago that he would not seek a third term and would step down at the conclusion of his tenure in November this year.

Mykhel earlier reported that Jay Shah was the only person to file nomination for ICC Chairman role, and now has been appointed with the role. He will take up his new role from December 1.
"I am humbled by the nomination as the Chair of the International Cricket Council," Shah stated after his election.
He expressed his commitment to working closely with the ICC team and member nations to further globalise cricket.
"We stand at a critical juncture where it is increasingly important to balance the coexistence of multiple formats, promote the adoption of advanced technologies, and introduce our marquee events to new global markets. Our goal is to make cricket more inclusive and popular than ever before," Shah added.
Shah highlighted that fresh thinking and innovation are essential to elevating cricket's love worldwide. The inclusion of cricket in the Olympics at LA 2028 represents a significant move forward for the sport as a whole.
The announcement marks a new chapter for international cricket governance. With Shah's leadership, there is optimism about enhancing cricket's appeal globally. Jay Shah made a major announcement regarding Indian cricket as BCCI secretary, but now his journey takes the next step at the helm of ICC.
