MyKhel IPL 2026 Team of the Season: Patidar Leads Star-Studded XI Featuring Vaibhav, Sai, Kohli and Klaasen
IPL 2026: Selecting a Team of the Season is never as simple as rewarding the highest run-scorers and wicket-takers. T20 cricket is a format is transitioning quickly and it is built on roles, impact and context.
With IPL 2026 now complete, myKhel's Team of the Season has been picked with those factors in mind. From Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's record-breaking emergence and Sai Sudharsan's relentless consistency to Virat Kohli's reinvention and Rajat Patidar's title-winning leadership, these are the players who shaped IPL 2026.

MyKhel's Team of the Season has been selected using the same principles that underpin the MyKhel Player Rankings - rewarding players who consistently influenced matches, excelled in their designated roles and elevated their teams during critical moments.
The result is a side that not only celebrates the best performers of IPL 2026 but also looks capable of winning the title itself.
Openers: Sai Sudharsan and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Few opening combinations in IPL history would be as exciting as this one.
Sai Sudharsan was arguably the most complete batter of IPL 2026. The Gujarat Titans opener accumulated 722 runs, struck eight half-centuries and combined consistency with tempo better than any batter in the competition. While several players scored faster, none matched his ability to build innings while maintaining pressure on bowlers.
At the other end is the phenomenon that was Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
The Rajasthan Royals teenager produced one of the most extraordinary debut campaigns the IPL has ever witnessed, smashing 776 runs at an astonishing strike rate of 237.31 while clearing the ropes 72 times. No player had a greater ability to change games within the Powerplay, making him one of the easiest selections in the XI.
Virat Kohli Remains the Gold Standard
At No. 3 sits Virat Kohli, whose remarkable IPL resurgence continued in 2026.
The RCB legend scored 675 runs at an average above 56 while striking at over 165. More importantly, he remained the stabilising force in a batting unit built around aggression. Whenever RCB needed calm amid chaos, Kohli delivered.
His performances throughout the campaign were instrumental in Bengaluru defending their IPL crown, proving once again that consistency remains one of the most valuable commodities in T20 cricket.
KL Rahul's Reinvention Earns a Spot
One of the biggest storylines of IPL 2026 was KL Rahul's transformation. Long criticised for scoring at a conservative pace, Rahul produced arguably the most aggressive season of his IPL career, scoring 593 runs at a strike rate of 174.41 while maintaining an average above 45.
The Delhi Capitals star also fills the wicketkeeping role, providing balance to the XI without sacrificing batting quality. His ability to adapt his game while retaining consistency makes him a deserved selection at No. 4.
Klaasen and Patidar: The Ultimate Finishers
If there was one batter opposition teams feared after the Powerplay, it was Heinrich Klaasen.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad star once again demonstrated why he is among the most destructive middle-order batters in world cricket. Unlike many top-order stars, Klaasen spent most of the season walking in against spread fields and bowling attacks already operating with defensive plans. It made little difference.
His ability to dismantle both pace and spin earned him a place at No. 5.
Rajat Patidar, meanwhile, captains the side.
The RCB skipper scored 501 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 192.69 and led his team to a second successive IPL title. While he batted at No. 4 for much of the season, his inclusion at No. 6 reflects his extraordinary finishing ability.
The defining image of Patidar's season remains his breathtaking unbeaten 93 off 33 balls against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1-an innings that effectively secured RCB's place in the final.
The All-Round & Spin Engine Room
Every great T20 side needs players capable of influencing games in multiple disciplines.
Krunal Pandya was one of the unsung heroes of RCB's championship-winning campaign. His ability to control the middle overs, provide crucial breakthroughs and contribute useful runs down the order repeatedly shifted momentum in Bengaluru's favour.
Alongside him is Sunil Narine, whose impact transcends traditional statistics.
Even at this stage of his career, Narine remains one of the IPL's most unique match-winners. Whether opening the batting, bowling inside the Powerplay or breaking partnerships in the middle overs, he continues to influence matches in ways few players can replicate.
His versatility and tactical value earned him the nod ahead of several more statistically impressive candidates.
Rabada, Bhuvneshwar and Archer Lead the Pace Attack
The bowling attack practically selected itself. Kagiso Rabada finished IPL 2026 as the Purple Cap winner and Gujarat Titans' premier strike bowler. His ability to take wickets throughout every phase of an innings made him the standout fast bowler of the tournament.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was equally important for RCB. The veteran seamer combined control, swing and wicket-taking ability to become the leader of Bengaluru's attack during their title-winning campaign.
Completing the pace trio is Jofra Archer.
The Rajasthan Royals quick collected 25 wickets and once again reminded the cricketing world why fully fit Archer remains one of the most dangerous T20 bowlers on the planet. His pace, bounce and ability to strike with both the new ball and at the death make him an automatic inclusion.
The Impact Subs: Too Good to Ignore
The Impact Player rule has become a defining part of modern IPL strategy, and MyKhel's Team of the Season reflects that reality.
Ishan Kishan is selected as the batting Impact Player.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad opener scored more than 600 runs while maintaining a strike rate above 180. In most seasons, such numbers would comfortably earn a place in the starting XI. The sheer quality of the top order prevented that, but his impact was too significant to overlook entirely.
For the bowling Impact Player, Rashid Khan gets the nod.
While IPL 2026 wasn't his most economical season, the Gujarat Titans spinner still finished with 21 wickets and delivered a superb spell of 2/25 in the final. Few bowlers possess Rashid's ability to change the course of a match within a couple of overs, making him the ideal bowling substitute.
