Matthew John Fisher is a 6ft 2inches right-arm fast bowler from New Zealand, widely regarded as one of the quickest bowlers in the country. Fisher was a standout talent at St Paul’s Collegiate School before making his mark in the domestic circuit with the Northern Districts, also famous as Northern Brave. Known for his pace and ability to extract steep bounce using his height, Fisher has overcome significant injury hurdles, including back stress fractures and shin issues, to become a vital component of New Zealand’s fast-bowling stocks.

Fisher’s international journey hit a historic high in August 2025 when he made his Test debut for New Zealand against Zimbabwe. He lived up to the fans' expectations by taking 2 off 38 in his debut match, helping lead the pace attack alongside Matt Henry and Will O'Rourke. While he has primarily focused on the red ball format and domestic T20s, his recent selection for the Bangladesh tour signals a growing role in New Zealand's limited-overs plans.
