Nizakat Khan is another prominent name in Hong Kong cricket who, despite his roots in Pakistan, built his cricketing career entirely in his adopted home. Born in Pakistan in 1992, he moved to Hong Kong as a baby with his family, though much of his early childhood was spent back and forth between the two countries. It was not until 2004, when he returned to Hong Kong for his education, that cricket truly entered his life.

Starting out with softball cricket, Nizakat quickly developed a passion for the game. By 2005, he was part of Hong Kong’s Under-13 squad that toured Malaysia, marking the first step in what would become a long association with the national team. After making debut his debut in the two white-ball formats in 2014, Nizakat quickly established himself as one of Hong Kong’s most dynamic top-order players. His breakthrough moment came in the 2018 Asia Cup in the UAE, where he produced a stunning 92 against India in a spirited chase. That innings, played against a world-class bowling attack, highlighted his ability to perform on the biggest stage and remains one of the defining knocks in Hong Kong’s cricketing history.

Beyond his batting, Nizakat has grown into a leader for Hong Kong cricket. His calm demeanour and wealth of experience have been invaluable in guiding a young side through the rigours of international competition. As captain, he has overseen campaigns in regional tournaments, most notably steering Hong Kong to the Asia Cup in 2022. After more than three years at the helm, Nizakat stepped down from the captaincy in December 2024 to focus on his individual game. Despite relinquishing the leadership role, he remained a pivotal figure in Hong Kong’s batting unit.
