Reeza Hendricks can be termed as a destructive opener with classic strokeplay. Even though he is not a slogger, he can score quick runs with absolute ease. The talented batsman featured in South Africa's U-19 team during the 2008 U-19 World Cup held in Malaysia and was also a part of the final where his team lost to Virat Kohli led India U-19. Hendricks has an average First-class record but is much impressive in the shorter versions of the game.
The ability to score runs quickly and amazing athleticism on the field earned him a national call-up in 2014 for the T20I series against Australia. Hendricks had a below-par start to his international career as he got out on a duck in his maiden T20I outing. Some poor performances with the bat and the rising competition for the opening slot kept him in and out of South Africa's T20I squad for a long time.
After scoring a List-A century in the 2017–18 Momentum One Day Cup, he became the first player to score centuries in all three franchise competitions in South Africa in a single season. Later in June 2018, he was included in South Africa's ODI squad for their series against Sri Lanka.
Reeza had a dream ODI debut as he smashed an 88-ball ton which is also the fastest century by any batsman on ODI debut. Following a promising start, he lacked consistency in ODI format but remained a regular member of South Africa's ODI squad until he was ignored for the 2019 World Cup. With the retirement of Hashim Amla, there was a vacancy and Reeza was drafted in the South African limited-overs squad again for the tour of India in 2019.
