Pune, Apr 26: In a fresh jolt to Rising Pune Supergiants, team's middle order batsman Kevin Pietersen has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League tournament due to calf injury.

Pietersen informed fans and followers on Instagram, on Tuesday, that he would no more be playing for the Supergiants due to 'horrible tear in his calf'.
Even the franchise took to twitter to make the announcement.

Kevin Pietersen had come out to bat at No. 3 in game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (on April 23), and faced only one ball before he retired hurt. He had to be carried off the field.
Pietersen had scored 73 runs from four innings in the tournament at an average of 36.50 and strike rate of 119.67.
However, after his injury in the match against RCB, Pune Supergiants' skipper MS Dhoni had said 'KP's injury would be a blessing in disguise for his side'.
"KP's injury could be a blessing in disguise. Could allow us to play Albie (Morkel) or (Mitchell) Marsh," Dhoni said during post match presentation.
