Rohit Sharma on Tuesday (September 12) became the sixth Indian player and fifteenth overall to complete 10000 runs in ODI format. The Indian skipper achieved the feat during the Asia Cup 2023 super clash against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
Rohit, who started the day on 9978 runs, added two maximums and 7 fours on-route to 54 to join the unique club of 10000 runs in ODI cricket. He reached the landmark just under 24 hours after compatriot Virat kohli had become the fastest to score 13000 runs in One Day Internationals.

The 36-year-old Rohit now joins Kohli as well as legends Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and current Team India head coach Rahul Dravid for Indian players with more than 10000 runs in ODI cricket.
Rohit also reached the landmark in the second quickest time, having completed 10000 runs in 241 innings. Kohli is the current holder for the fastest to 10000 mark, having reached the milestone in 205 innings.
Indian icon Tendulkar tops the most runs in ODIs list with 18426 runs followed by Sri Lanka great Kumar Sangakkara, who has amassed 14234 runs in ODIs. Here is a look at the players with 10000 runs in One Day Internationals:

Rohit has so far smashed 30 hundreds, including three double centuries with an highest score of 264, and 51 fifties in the ODI format. With 30 ODI hundreds, he is level with Australia great Ricky Ponting and just behind compatriots Tendulkar (49) and Kohli (47) on the most hundreds in ODI list.
The Indian skipper also got closer to the record for most sixes in international cricket with two maximums in the innings against Sri Lanka. He now has 545 maximums across formats in international cricket and is only 8 behind Chris Gayle on the list.
