‘Just a Person Who Supports Silently’: Saly joins Sanju Samson as brothers Reunite in Kerala Cricket League | Exclusive

Sanju Samson and his elder brother Saly Samson are set to play together in the upcoming Kerala Cricket League edition, starting from August 21.

Kochi Blue Tigers broke the bank to sign Sanju Samson for a record Rs 26.8 Lakh in the KCL auction, while Saly, who was part of the team last season as well, has been roped in at a base price of Rs 75 thousand.

Just a Person Who Supports Silently Saly joins Sanju Samson as brothers Reunite in Kerala Cricket League Exclusive

The two brothers may have played in the backyards of Pulluvila growing up, but after a long time, they will again play together at the highest stage so far in their careers. And speaking about that, Saly seemed excited.

While speaking with MyKhel in an exclusive chat, the elder sibling reflected his profound happiness to play with his younger kin.

"The feeling is actually good. I'm excited to play along with him, because it's been a very long time since we have played together. So looking forward, I'm very happy to play together."

Sanju Samson has showcased his class for India and franchise cricket, but Saly also had a promising career. He played age-level cricket for Kerala but an injury derailed his career for around four years. The prolonged absence nearly derailed his playing ambitions, but Saly's comeback story earned him respect across Kerala's cricketing community. Sanju himself acknowledged his elder brother's grit publicly, lauding the effort it took for Saly to return to competitive cricket after such a challenging phase. Off the field, Saly maintains a steady professional life working with the AG Office in Kerala.

But while speaking about that, the 'Chetta' of the Samson family remains unfazed.

"I just feel that it's part of life. Things happen. It didn't affect me that much. I can't say that I have made a comeback or something. It's just cricket. I'm just enjoying the way it's possible."

The entire Samson family shifted their base from Delhi to Kerala to give Sanju more opportunity to reach at the highest level, and speaking on that, the elder brother said they realized his potential at an early age. But Saly acknowledges the hard work his brother put into to reach the level.

Although Sanju plays for India and in the IPL, Saly is not often seen at the ground. But in the Samson family, the support and care is often confined within the family, with no such external fuss.

"Internally, we have the connection. That's all. That's how we both are, actually. Nothing much externally. Just a person who supports silently."

Saly Samson may never become a household name like his younger brother, but he stands as a vital character in the tapestry of Kerala cricket. And as the duo unite for the KCL, the Samson power may be unleashed at God's Own Country, at least the Kochi Blue Tigers will hope so.
