In what promises to be one of the biggest stories of the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) 2025 season, Indian international star Sanju Samson is set to don the jersey of the Kochi Blue Tigers, and play under his elder brother Saly Samson in the season.
Sanju, renowned for his elegant strokeplay and explosive captaincy in the Indian Premier League, was the headline signing of the KCL auction, picked up for a record-breaking ₹26.8 lakh, the highest-ever figure in the league's short but growing history. Saly was picked up for his base price of ₹75,000, marking yet another comeback in his determined cricketing journey.

Although general expectation was that Sanju will lead the side, the Kochi Blue Tigers confirmed that they have handed the captaincy to Saly Samson. In a social media post, the Blue Tigers owner confirmed Saly as captain, while Sanju has been appointed as vice-captain.
"It's now official! I, Subash G Manuel, owner of Kochi Blue Tigers, am proud to officially announce-on behalf of the management, the leadership for KCL Season 2. In KCL Season 2, the Blue Tigers will roar louder than ever," a social media post from Kochi Blue Tigers wrote.
Saly, who has successfully battled injuries and setbacks throughout his career, brings leadership and experience to the Blue Tigers. Having represented the Kochi franchise last year as well, it promises to be an exciting chapter for the elder brother. Saly recently spoke with MyKhel, confirming his excitement to play with younger brother Sanju.
The India star last played in the IPL 2025 season for Rajasthan Royals. Sanju's future in the IPL with the Royals also remains extremely delicate as the player has been tipped with a trade move. As per reports, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders are set to make a move, but he has multiple suitors ahead of IPL 2026.
