A story of two halves - After opting to bat first, SKM Salem Spartans started well with the bat as their openers put on 77 runs for the opening wicket, and they were cruising at 92/1 after 10 overs. However, things changed drastically in the second half. The likes of Antony Dhas and Sanjay Yadav bowled excellent spells and the Spartans kept on losing wickets under pressure. Only 60 runs were scored in the last 10 overs, and 8 wickets fell too. Right then, this should be a straightforward chase given what we have seen so far, but one feels that the pitch has become a bit sluggish as well. Can Salem take early wickets and make a match out of this one? We shall find out soon. Stay tuned for the chase.

Full and angled across off, Karthick Manikandan hangs back and forces it over extra cover. Sanjay Yadav runs around to his left from long off and throws it towards the keeper. Suresh Kumar dislodges the bails and the replays confirm that Manikandan is well short of his crease.

Breaking the back of the chase - Trichy Grand Cholas knew that the target was a small one and even though they lost a wicket in the Powerplay, they made sure to get ahead of the required rate. After an early blitz from skipper Suresh Kumar, it was the 99-run stand between Rajkumar K and Jagatheesan Kousik that got Trichy into a commanding position. Rajkumar went on to remain unbeaten on 67 off 43 balls as R Rajkumar came in and smacked a couple of sixes to finish things off with ease. SKM Salem Spartans didn't have a great outing in the first innings after opting to bat first and they were listless for a while in the run chase as well. They gave away too many boundaries in the Powerplay, and even though Rahil Shah and S Ajith Ram bowled economical spells in the second half of the chase, by then, the game was already over.
