Wham, bam, slam needed - No choice for the London Spirit if they are to really make a match out of this. Their bowlers were ransacked and left absolutely clueless, with only Milne and Willey managing to get one wicket each. Spirit now have to do what no side in The Hundred's history has ever managed, chase down the highest total the competition has ever seen, and the magnitude of the number alone tells you everything about the mountain in front of them. The Sunrisers can really kill this game by picking up early wickets, and they do have all the weapons in their armoury. Back in a bit with the chase.

Let's hear it from Harry Brook - He says that it was a lot of fun out there and the openers set things up nicely. Mentions that he has never seen anyone hit a ball as hard as Marsh did today. On the no-look six, he says that he knows a lot of people don't like it, but he doesn't mind it at all. Ends by saying that they need to front-load with the ball and get as many wickets up top as possible.

A graveyard for the bowlers - That's what Headingley is traditionally known as. And it came all true this evening. Spirit's spirits sank as they went without a wicket for well over half the innings. Rickelton eventually joined the carnage, and once he found his groove, he took over the show himself, smashing his own fifty in similarly rapid time. Marsh did eventually fall but just when the Spirit thought they could pull things back after that, in came Harry Brook with his sword, promoting himself up the order, and swung to take the bowlers to the cleaners. Within a blink, he got off to the joint-quickest half-century of The Hundred history to breeze the score past 200, while Rickelton was going on his own blitz from the other end.

The Bison's brute force - On a batter's paradise in Headingley, Mitchell Marsh came out all guns blazing from the word go, as Rickelton sat back at the other end as a spectator with the best seat in the house. Marsh got off to a whirlwind 24-ball half-century to get the Sunrisers to a belting start. His punishing of Zampa for 23 runs was one of the key highlights, which truly put the hosts in ascendancy at the halfway mark, with 119 runs at the halfway point of the innings.

Who wants to be a bowler? After seeing the ball being butchered mercilessly to all parts of the park in this first innings, that's a valid question, isn't it? No bowler was spared from the carnage as the Sunrisers smashed 21 sixes and 18 fours in a score of 241, which now happens to be the highest team score in the history of The Hundred. Some ridiculous power-hitting came to the fore and amid all that, you have got to feel for Ryan Rickelton too, as he remained elusive of a well-deserved century.

A special, special innings from Harry Cherrington Brook. He gets a huge standing ovation from the Headingley crowd as he raises his bat to acknowledge it. Dan Lawrence is in at number 4, with three legal balls left.

Carnage from the top order - Earlier in the game, it was a stark contrast with the bat for Sunrisers Leeds, as their top three stitched together 225 runs. Mitchell Marsh was the aggressor up top as he picked up another half-century and set the tone for things that followed. Ryan Rickelton barely had any strike early on, but kept his focus and kept on growing in confidence as the openers piled on 148 runs for the first wicket. Harry Brook then came in and smashed the equal-fastest fifty in the history of the competition. Rickelton unfortunately was left stranded at the death on 94 as Dan Lawrence laid the finishing touches. With the ball, there wasn't much to write about for London Spirit, but James Coles did show great control and proved to be economical. Adam Milne, too bowled well for most of his spell, but was put to the sword towards the backend of the innings.

Middle order menace - London Spirit were up against it right from the start and simply lost too many wickets up top. Liam Livingstone did play a quickfire cameo of 34 off just 13 balls, but once he got out, there was immense pressure on the middle order. Dewald Brevis and David Willey got together and frustrated the opposition bowlers with a fine 64-run stand. Jamie Overton also hit a few boundaries at the death as Willey went on to stay unbeaten on 83 off just 46 balls, but it was in vain.

Player of the Match - For his scintillating and unbeaten innings of 94 off 42 balls, Ryan Rickelton has been given the accolade. Rickelton says it was a great wicket and adds that both teams batted incredibly well tonight. Mentions that it was a tough night for the bowlers of both sides, but feels great to have crossed the line. On Marsh and Brook's innings, Rickelton jokingly says that Marsh was a bit selfish in the Powerplay for not giving him the strike, but pours all the praise for him for getting the team off to a blistering start. Then adds that the way Brook batted was incredible. Calls him an absolute freak with the kind of outrageous shots he unleashes. He wishes he could play some of those himself, and adds it was great to be out there and batting with both of them. On what his mindset is while batting on wickets so good for batting, he is quick to say it is all about cashing in on such tracks. Admits that he was a little bit nervous coming into this game, having not gotten to a big score. Details that Marsh took a lot of pressure off him and allowed him to settle in nicely before launching. On the halfway chat with the bowling group, he shares that the message was simple - to just not become predictable. He notes the wicket favours the batters, so the plan was to mix up the fields and vary the deliveries without falling into a pattern, especially against a batting lineup as strong as the opposition's. Looking ahead, Rickelton reckons five wins from an eight-game tournament is roughly the benchmark, but stresses the importance of winning at home, adding that picking up even a couple of wins on the road on top of that makes the rest of the job considerably easier.

Killing the game up front - We did hear Harry Brook mention in the mid-game interview that they want to front-load with the ball and get early wickets. That's exactly what the Sunrisers did and had the opposition reeling at 44/4. They didn't do a great job of closing out the game, but it was more than enough. Reece Topley was the pick of the bowlers as he did the early damage and stayed fairly economical, and Nathan Ellis also picked up a couple of crucial wickets. However, someone like Brydon Carse conceded in excess of 50 in his 20 balls and not being able to close out the game as expected has cost the Sunrisers a place in the top 3 on the basis on Net Run-Rate. If they had won by about 43-odd runs, they would have been third for now, but still, it is a big win for the home side.

Double trouble - After the Women got over the line in a tight contest, the Men from Sunrisers Leeds have managed to pick up their third win of the season with a demolition of London Spirit. The Spirit now have just one win from their 5 games and are on the verge of being dumped out of the playoff race.
