Carnage from the top order - Earlier in the game, it was a stark contrast with the bat for Sunrisers Leeds, as their top three stitched together 225 runs. Mitchell Marsh was the aggressor up top as he picked up another half-century and set the tone for things that followed. Ryan Rickelton barely had any strike early on, but kept his focus and kept on growing in confidence as the openers piled on 148 runs for the first wicket. Harry Brook then came in and smashed the equal-fastest fifty in the history of the competition. Rickelton unfortunately was left stranded at the death on 94 as Dan Lawrence laid the finishing touches. With the ball, there wasn't much to write about for London Spirit, but James Coles did show great control and proved to be economical. Adam Milne, too bowled well for most of his spell, but was put to the sword towards the backend of the innings.

Middle order menace - London Spirit were up against it right from the start and simply lost too many wickets up top. Liam Livingstone did play a quickfire cameo of 34 off just 13 balls, but once he got out, there was immense pressure on the middle order. Dewald Brevis and David Willey got together and frustrated the opposition bowlers with a fine 64-run stand. Jamie Overton also hit a few boundaries at the death as Willey went on to stay unbeaten on 83 off just 46 balls, but it was in vain.

Player of the Match - For his scintillating and unbeaten innings of 94 off 42 balls, Ryan Rickelton has been given the accolade. Rickelton says it was a great wicket and adds that both teams batted incredibly well tonight. Mentions that it was a tough night for the bowlers of both sides, but feels great to have crossed the line. On Marsh and Brook's innings, Rickelton jokingly says that Marsh was a bit selfish in the Powerplay for not giving him the strike, but pours all the praise for him for getting the team off to a blistering start. Then adds that the way Brook batted was incredible. Calls him an absolute freak with the kind of outrageous shots he unleashes. He wishes he could play some of those himself, and adds it was great to be out there and batting with both of them. On what his mindset is while batting on wickets so good for batting, he is quick to say it is all about cashing in on such tracks. Admits that he was a little bit nervous coming into this game, having not gotten to a big score. Details that Marsh took a lot of pressure off him and allowed him to settle in nicely before launching. On the halfway chat with the bowling group, he shares that the message was simple - to just not become predictable. He notes the wicket favours the batters, so the plan was to mix up the fields and vary the deliveries without falling into a pattern, especially against a batting lineup as strong as the opposition's. Looking ahead, Rickelton reckons five wins from an eight-game tournament is roughly the benchmark, but stresses the importance of winning at home, adding that picking up even a couple of wins on the road on top of that makes the rest of the job considerably easier.

Killing the game up front - We did hear Harry Brook mention in the mid-game interview that they want to front-load with the ball and get early wickets. That's exactly what the Sunrisers did and had the opposition reeling at 44/4. They didn't do a great job of closing out the game, but it was more than enough. Reece Topley was the pick of the bowlers as he did the early damage and stayed fairly economical, and Nathan Ellis also picked up a couple of crucial wickets. However, someone like Brydon Carse conceded in excess of 50 in his 20 balls and not being able to close out the game as expected has cost the Sunrisers a place in the top 3 on the basis on Net Run-Rate. If they had won by about 43-odd runs, they would have been third for now, but still, it is a big win for the home side.

Double trouble - After the Women got over the line in a tight contest, the Men from Sunrisers Leeds have managed to pick up their third win of the season with a demolition of London Spirit. The Spirit now have just one win from their 5 games and are on the verge of being dumped out of the playoff race.

FOUR! It always looked a bridge too far for the Spirit, but they will be feeling good to have crossed the 200 figure. SUNRISERS LEEDS WIN BY 37 RUNS! Full and on the legs, Jamie Overton swings hard and whips it through short fine leg for a boundary. An absolute run fest at Headingley with an aggregate of 445 runs scored across both innings, with the Men in Orange taking a convincing win. They have now won three out of three at home this season.

SIX! Short and slow from Carse, around off. Willey stands tall and looks to have mistimed the pull shot off the top edge, but it has enough wheels to sail over Dan Lawrence at long on for a six. And with that, Carse brings up the fifty with the ball.

Cannons in a good length ball, on the leg stump. Jamie Overton clears the front leg to work it across but misses to connect and the ball goes off the thigh pad to short fine leg for a leg bye.

Spears in a low full toss, from around the stump. Willey heaves it off the toe end towards deep mid-wicket for a single.

Yorker again, outside off. Crashed away to the covers for a single.

Executes the yorker to perfection, by landing at the base of the middle stump. Willey just jams the bat down in time and shovels it to the off side for a single.

FOUR! Edged but goes through! Off cutter, full and outside off. Willey throws his bat at it and gets an outside edge. But the ball goes between the keeper and the short third fielder for a boundary.

FOUR! Put away! Short of a length, slower one, David Willey pulls it up and over mid-wicket for a boundary.

Overpitched outside off, Overton blasts that to deep point. The ball goes on the bounce and Revis almost makes a mess of it by getting wrong-footed. But does well to slide to his left and stop it. One run taken.

Last 10 balls left. The writing is on the wall. Matthew Potts will bowl out. 1 wicket for 31 runs in 15 balls so far.

Full and quick, outside off. Overton walks down the pitch and undercuts the ball, hitting it on the biunce to long off for just another single.

The Sunrisers have been penalised for not completing their sets in time. The on-field umpire walks towards Crawley to have a chat about that. An extra fielder will have to be kept inside the ring for the remainder of the game.

Slower ball into the pitch, pushed wide of the off stump. David Willey reaches out and flat-bats it off the toe end of the bat. The ball rolls down to long off for a single.
