The BCCI is set to announce the India squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 which starts on June 1 in West Indies and USA.

Many names are floating as India probables for the World Cup, especially as the IPL 2024 season is ongoing as well. We have seen youngsters such as Shivam Dube, Mayank Yadav in the fray for the World Cup due to their IPL performances, while veterans like Dinesh Karthik and Yuzvendra Chahal have also made strong cases for themselves.
India coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma, along with chief selector Ajit Agarkar will come up with the squad announcement. Although we have seen emergence fo fringe players due to IPL success, there are already a number of players who have shone for India in the T20 setup previously.
In this article, we shall have a look at Five players who may not make it to the T20 World Cup squad for India-
Mayank Yadav
Mayank Yadav has been the find of the IPL 2024 season and the LSG pacer is being tipped to make the World Cup squad. Many experts have openly asked for Mayank's inclusion, but the youngster may not make the cut.
He is currently injured and hasn't played the last few matches for LSG. But even if Mayank gets fit, including the youngster in the India squad can be a risk due to his non-exposure to Indian cricket.

Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill is leading Gujarat Titans adeptly and has been scoring runs for them in this IPL season. The opening batter has emerged as one of the finest batters in recent times, and has a great future ahead. But for this upcoming T20 World Cup, the stylish right-handed better may not have the opportunity. He is down the pecking order as dynamic southpaw Yashasvi Jaiswal may be picked ahead of him.
Axar Patel
Axar Patel has been a class performer across formats for India. Even in this current IPL season, Axar is doing brilliantly for Delhi Capitals. The all-rounder has scored important runs and has picked up wickets for DC regularly. But when it comes to the all-rounder selection, Ravindra Jadeja is the man who will get the nod ahead of Axar. Jadeja doesn't have the numbers but his experience is likely to thwart Axar from the World Cup spot.
Sanju Samson
Rajasthan Royals' dynamic captain Sanju Samson is one of the most popular players in the Indian setup. The Kerala player is showcasing his captaincy and batting skills in this IPL season as well. But as per reports, Samson is down the pecking order as KL Rahul may be preferred ahead of him. If it happens, it will be a body blow for Samson and an unfair one as well as he definitely deserves to be in the team.

Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal's run with poor luck may continue as the crafty leg-spinner may be overlooked despite his IPL heroics. Chahal has rejuvenated at Rajasthan Royals this season and is bowling brilliantly.
But there is a lack of enthusiasm among the experts and selectors regarding Yuzvendra Chahal as many prefer Ravi Bishnoi ahead of the ever-smiling bowler. Given Chahal's long-term pedigree, it will be disappointing if he misses out.
