New Delhi, March 19: India cricketer Mohammed Shami who is facing match-fixing allegations from his wife Hasin Jahan pledged full co-operation from his side as Kolkata Police team reached his residence in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha.
Police are investigating the UP-born Bengal pacer after his wife lodged a complaint against him and accused the cricketer of perjury and domestic violence.
Shami on Sunday (March 18) rubbished all the allegations made by his estranged wife and stressed that he will co-operate with the police and also maintained at the same time that he'll come out clean.
"My wife is unable to prove half of the allegations she has put on me. Now, I want to see to what extent she can go. I tried to solve the issue for seven to eight days, but she openly said she does not want to, so now I also do not have any option but to take this up legally," the 28-year-old pacer told ANI.
Shami has been charged under various non-bailable and bailable sections of the IPC, including Section 307 (attempt to murder) and Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code after his wife filed a police complaint against the cricketer.
In a series of allegations against the pacer, Jahan had accused that he accepted money from a bookie named Mohammed Bhai.
"My cricket has no link with this matter. This is just a tactic to spoil my career. I have requested BCCI to start their investigation at the earliest and if I am proved to be innocent then let me resume my practice so that my game is not affected," said Shami.
