New Delhi, Mar 21: Mahendra Singh Dhoni led India to their seventh win over Pakistan in a World Cup game (T20 and 50 overs) at the Eden Gardens here on Saturday (March 19).

Riding on Virat Kohli's magnificent unbeaten 55 off 37 balls, Team India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by 6 wickets and earned their first victory in the ongoing World T20.

India now have a 11-0 lead over Pakistan in all World Cups. When asked about Pakistan's consistent poor show against India in the ICC tournaments, legendary cricketers opined that Men In Green have always failed to perform under pressure against Men In Blue.

Here is what cricketing greats Sunil Gavaskar, Imran Khan and Kumar Sangakkara had to say about Pakistan's poor show against India on big occasions:

Sunil Gavaskar:

As per former India skipper Sunil Gavakar the main reason for Pakistan's continuous bad performance against India is that the team succumbs under pressure in the most sought match of the tournament. There are always huge pressure on both the sides whenever they face each other and a face-off in World tournament multiplies the pressure.

India-Pakistan matches are one of the biggest game of any ICC tournament and Pakistani side just fails to calm its nerve against their arch-rivals. While India on the other hand handle pressure better than their Pakistani counterparts.

Gavaskar told NDTV that had Shoaib Mallik not played some big strokes in Saturday's game, Pakistan would not even have touched the triple-figure mark against India. As per Sunny, Team India on the other hand does something 'extra' against Pakistan to ensure victory.

Imran Khan:

This World Cup winning captain for Pakistan too was critical of current team's tendency to wilt under pressure stating that Shahid Afridi's boys need to learn about playing under pressure and no amount of pep talk can lift their game.

"I always try and help the Pakistan team in the best way I can. They need to understand how to play under pressure. One part of game is in the mind and the other part is played on the ground. So you need to implement this while playing. You can't win matches by (pep) talks. The team has to perform and that's the only way you can win," said Khan.

It must be noted, India faced Pakistan for the first time in World Cup in 1992 when Imran Khan captained Pakistan. India won that match by 43 runs and Sachin Tendulkar was awarded Man of the Match for his unbeaten knock of 54 runs.

Kumar Sangakkara:

Ex-Sri Lanka cricketer and captain Kumar Sangakkara also opined that India has always played as a mature side and the team management shows faith in its players and backs them well on big occasions like these.

"Indian players are selected on the merit of their confidence and potential while on the contrary Pakistan team is selected in a haywired manner for big games. There is a lot of conflict in the team regarding selection of players in the Pakistan team, this further hurts the side during pressure games."

Sangakkara, who captained Sri Lanka in the ICC World T20 2014, said Indian team never lets the pressure of the high-profile game affect their performance while their Pakistani counterparts succumb to it.
