Elavenil has tried almost all sports except cricket, football, and volleyball. Her parents played badminton, and her father was a state-level volleyball player. Initially, she started shooting for fun but later became serious about it. She found shooting more challenging than other sports because it required calmness and precision.

Training and Coaching

Elavenil trains at the Gun for Glory Shooting Academy in Chennai. Her personal coaches are Gagan Narang and Neha Chavan. She shoots with her right eye and right hand. Elavenil made her international debut for India in 2018.

Influences and Inspirations

Elavenil's career has been influenced by Indian shooter Abhinav Bindra. Her idol is Gagan Narang. She suffered a knee injury in March 2017 due to excessive workouts but continued competing. Her sporting philosophy emphasises precision and patience, especially in the 10m air rifle event.

Awards and Recognition

In 2022, Elavenil received the Arjuna Award from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in India. Her father played volleyball at the state level, adding to her family's sporting legacy.

Elavenil draws inspiration from her family. Her mother Saroja worked as a college professor and principal while managing family responsibilities. Her brother served in the Indian Army. Elavenil admires her mother's calmness and ability to handle critical situations.
