Emanuel Biography

Emanuel chose volleyball because he was thin and sought a sport that did not require excessive strength or physical contact. His first beach volleyball partner, Aloisio Claudino, played a crucial role in shaping his career.

Achievements and Honours

Emanuel's accolades are numerous. He competed in his fifth Olympic Games in London in 2012, making him the only man to participate in every Olympic beach volleyball tournament. He was named FIVB Most Outstanding men's player in 2006 and 2011 and Most Inspirational player in 2011.

With former teammate Ricardo, Emanuel won the FIVB Team of the Year award in 2005, 2006, and 2007. He also secured the same award with Alison Cerutti in 2011. Additionally, he was elected as an FIVB Hero in 2011.

Personal Life

Emanuel is married to Leila Barros, who was part of the Brazilian women's indoor volleyball team at the 1992, 1996, and 2000 Olympic Games. She won bronze medals in 1996 and 2000 and also played beach volleyball on the World Tour. They have a son named Lukas.
