Francisca has received numerous accolades throughout her career. In 2019, she was honoured with the National Sports Award in Chile. Additionally, she has won eight Condor prizes as the best sports shooter in Chile, awarded by the Association of Sports Journalists.
Francisca's Olympic journey has been marked by both challenges and aspirations. She participated in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro but faced difficulties. "I did not have a good experience at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. I came from a bad streak, and I was even robbed one week before the Games," she said.
Looking ahead, Francisca aims to compete at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. She hopes to use her past experiences to improve her performance. "The main objective in Japan [Tokyo 2020] is I want to enjoy the city and the process. I hope that will be reflected in being able to qualify for the final," she stated.
Her coach, Christian Eleuteri, has been a significant influence on her career. She also looks up to Chilean shooter Alfonso de Iruarrizaga as her idol. Her sporting philosophy is simple yet profound: "The difference between me and my rivals is going to be the head, because after all, we all know how to shoot."
Beyond her athletic pursuits, Francisca serves as president of the National Athletes' Commission of Chile (DAR) and as director of the Chilean Olympic Committee (COCH). She has also been the captain of Team Chile since 2014, an initiative aimed at supporting athletes in Chile.
Her inspiration to compete at the Olympic Games came from watching the opening ceremony of the 2004 Games in Athens. "I was thrilled by the ceremony. And when [Chilean athletes] Nicolas Massu and Fernando Gonzalez won their medals in tennis, it was very exciting. I cried because of it," she shared.
Francisca Crovetto's journey is a testament to perseverance and dedication. As she prepares for future competitions, her story continues to inspire many young athletes in Chile and beyond.
