Throughout his career, Cassina faced several injuries. In 2006, he had a fall from the high bar during the World Championships in Aarhus, Denmark. This incident left him with a bruised rib. Despite completing the routine, the damage was already done.
Earlier in his career, he broke his left ankle in Switzerland in 1996 and ruptured ligaments in the same ankle in 1993. At the age of 10, he broke his left tibia while performing a double drill during floor exercises.
In 2001, during the World Championship in Ghent, Belgium, Cassina introduced a new move known as the "Cassina straight." This move involves a double straight rotation with a twist over the horizontal bar. It was named after him and added to the score Code as one of the most difficult elements to perform.
Outside of gymnastics, Cassina enjoys music. He is also known by the nickname "Bilo," in honour of his idol Dmitri Bilozerchev.
Looking ahead, Cassina plans to continue contributing to gymnastics while balancing his studies. His journey reflects dedication and resilience, inspiring many young athletes.
