This decision was influenced by the lack of eventing riders in Japan ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Encouraged by his sister's coach, Tomoto saw more opportunities in eventing.

Club and Coaching

He is affiliated with the Japan Racing Association (JPA) based in Tokyo. Since 2017, Tomoto has been coached by British eventer William Fox-Pitt. This collaboration began after Tomoto relocated to the UK to work with Fox-Pitt in Dorset, England.
