Yoshiaki Oiwa Biography

Oiwa began riding at the age of 10. Initially, equestrian sport was a hobby for him. By age 14, he started riding daily and participating in show jumping competitions. His first experience with eventing came during a university competition where he had to compete in all three disciplines.

Professional Journey

Oiwa's professional journey took a significant turn when he moved to England in 2001 after being inspired by the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. He later relocated to Germany following the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. He has been training under Dirk Schrade since 2009.

One of Oiwa's most memorable sporting achievements was competing at the 2005 Badminton Horse Trials in England. He has received the Best Athletic Award in the equestrian section at the Japanese Sports Awards in 2005, 2007, and 2011.
