She began weightlifting in middle school. Initially, she disliked the sport and preferred team activities like basketball. However, after winning a gold medal in a weightlifting competition at a school sports meet, she decided to stick with it. Her coach, Lin Ching-Neng from Chinese Taipei, has been a significant influence on her career.

She has received numerous awards and honours. She was the flag bearer for Chinese Taipei at the opening ceremonies of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo and the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia. She was named Best Female Athlete at the Sports Elite Awards Ceremony in Chinese Taipei in 2013, 2017, and 2019.
In 2017, she received the Order of Brilliant Star in Chinese Taipei. The following year, she was awarded the Kuo-Kuang Sports Medal by the government of Chinese Taipei.
Outside of weightlifting, she enjoys playing the piano, reading, and playing badminton. She writes to calm herself down and stop overthinking. Her sporting philosophy is "Everything happens for the best." Her hero is Chinese Taipei dancer Sheu Fang-Yi.
She has shown a commitment to giving back to her community. After winning gold at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, she donated part of her prize money to a hospital and her old school in Chinese Taipei. In 2017, she donated 1.8 million New Taiwan dollars to Penghu Huimin Hospital to help fund a new ambulance.
Her decision to donate was influenced by an injury before the 2014 Asian Games when an ambulance arrived late due to traffic. This experience made her empathise with those waiting for medical help.
She has also pursued further education, studying for a master's degree at Fu Jen Catholic University in Chinese Taipei.
Looking ahead, she aims to win a gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. This goal reflects her dedication and commitment to excelling in her sport.
