Linet Masai Biography

Linet's passion for running started in her childhood. Despite her school lacking an athletics track, she trained by doing laps around a grassy field. Her school coach, Ben Tumwet, noticed her talent late. In 2005, she almost gave up running, but Tumwet encouraged her to continue.

International Debut

Linet made her international debut in 2007 at the World Cross Country Championships held in Mombasa. Competing for Kenya, this event marked the beginning of her international career. Her dedication and hard work paid off as she continued to excel in various competitions.

In 2009, Linet won the 10,000m at the World Championships in Berlin, becoming only the second Kenyan woman to win this title. The same year, she was voted Kenyan Sportswoman of the Year. She also received the Order of the Grand Warrior, one of Kenya's most prestigious awards.
