Kyosuke Matsuyama Biography

Matsuyama's introduction to fencing was influenced by his mother, who encouraged him and his older brother to attend a fencing class. He chose foil because it was the most popular event in Japan at that time. "I just followed what others were doing without question," he said.

Education and Club Affiliation

Kyosuke Matsuyama pursued higher education in Sports Science at Waseda University in Tokyo. He is currently affiliated with JTB, a club based in Tokyo. His left-handed technique has been honed under the guidance of national coach Erwann Le Pechoux from France.

International Achievements

Matsuyama has achieved significant milestones in his career. Alongside Kazuki Iimura, Takahiro Shikine, and Kenta Suzumura, he was part of the first men's foil team from Japan to win gold at the 2023 World Championships held in Milan, Italy.
