Kiyuna's early exposure to karate was influenced by his family's involvement in the sport. His older sister Tomoko and younger brother Shintaro have both represented Japan in karate. Tomoko won gold in kumite at the world championships in 2004 and 2006. Shintaro secured third place in kumite at the 2017 Premier League event in Salzburg, Austria.

Education and Coaching

Kiyuna pursued higher education in Economics at Kyoto Sangyo University in Japan. He now serves as the head karate coach at the same university. His role as a coach allows him to impart his knowledge and skills to the next generation of karate practitioners.

Achievements and Awards

Kiyuna's dedication to karate has earned him numerous accolades. In 2017, he received the Road to 2020 Prize for Encouragement at the Asahi TV Big Sports Awards. In 2016, he was honoured with the Kyoto-fu Sports Special Award and the Kyoto City Highest Honorary Award. Additionally, he received the Kameoka City Mayor Special Award in 2016 and a Special Merit Award from Kameoka city in 2008.

Kiyuna trains at Araga Dojo in Kameoka, Japan. He is coached by Ko Hayashi at the national level and his father Masataka Araga. This combination of personal and professional guidance has been instrumental in shaping his career.
