Murray's grandparents owned a farm with horses, sparking her interest in riding from a young age. Her involvement in swimming led her to try biathlon and eventually modern pentathlon. She was intrigued by pistol shooting during a biathlon competition and started practising it alongside her swimming sessions.

Her dedication to the sport saw her take up fencing to compete in her first modern pentathlon. She trains at the National Performance Centre for Modern Pentathlon at the University of Bath under the guidance of national coach Istvan Nemeth from Hungary.

Achievements and Challenges

Murray's most memorable sporting achievement is winning a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. She was named British Modern Pentathlon Olympic Athlete of the Year in 2012, 2014, and 2015. Despite facing challenges post-2012 Olympics, she made a remarkable comeback by winning gold at the 2014 World Championships in Warsaw, Poland.

Her younger brother Oliver also competes in modern pentathlon and finished sixth at a Great Britain U19 ranking event in May 2015. Murray's sporting philosophy is to "never expect, never presume, always work hard and stay true to who you are."
