Rankireddy trains at the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad. His training regime involves up to five hours each day, split across two sessions. He is coached by Mathias Boe from Denmark. Rankireddy is right-handed and communicates fluently in English and Hindi.

Achievements and Milestones

Rankireddy and his doubles partner Chirag Shetty have achieved significant milestones. They became the first Indian men's doubles team to win a medal at the World Championships, securing bronze in 2022 in Tokyo. They also won India's first gold medal in men's doubles at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

In 2018, they claimed silver at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. Their achievements earned them the Arjuna Award from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in India in 2020.

Challenges and Injuries

Rankireddy has faced several injuries throughout his career. In January 2023, a hip injury forced him and Shetty to withdraw from the India Open and Thailand Open. In 2021, knee pain led them to pull out of the World Tour Finals in Bali. In February 2020, he twisted his ankle during a match for Chennai Superstarz in the Premier Badminton League.

Doubles Partnership

Rankireddy was paired with Chirag Shetty by coach Tan Kim Her in 2016. Initially, both players were sceptical as they were back-court players and had never played at the net. Despite initial reservations from their families, the partnership proved successful with their silver win at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Personal Interests

Apart from badminton, Rankireddy enjoys dancing. His sporting philosophy is: "Often underdogs become champions. If you prepare yourself mentally, you'll win." This mindset has undoubtedly contributed to his success on the court.

As of July 2024, Rankireddy continues to train rigorously and aims for more victories with Shetty. Their journey reflects dedication and resilience, inspiring many young athletes across India.
