Simone Biles Biography

Biles trains at the World Champions Centre in Spring, Texas. Her coaches, Laurent and Cecile Landi, have been guiding her since 2017. Known by the nickname "$imoney," Biles has faced several injuries throughout her career but has always made strong comebacks.

In November 2018, despite a kidney stone, she won six medals at the World Championships in Doha. She also competed with a broken toe at the US selection camp for the same event. In early 2014, she suffered a right shoulder injury but returned to competition by August that year.

She holds records for most gold medals (19) and most overall medals (25) at world championships as of 2021. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, she equalled the record for most gold medals won by a female artistic gymnast at a single edition by claiming four golds.

Biles is married to Jonathan Owens, an NFL player who has played for teams like the Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans, and Green Bay Packers. She speaks English and resides in Houston.

Biles took a two-year break from competitive gymnastics after facing mental health issues during the Tokyo Olympics. She returned to competition at the 2023 US Classic in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, where she won titles in women's floor, balance beam, and all-around categories.

The International Gymnastics Federation has named several elements after Biles. In December 2018, they entered a vault element called 'Biles' into their Code of Points. She first performed this element at the 2018 World Championships in Doha.
