Zajac has faced several injuries throughout his career. In March 2009, he sustained a spinal injury and broke his heel bones in a climbing accident. He spent three months rehabilitating. In August 2019, he injured a ligament in his knee but competed at the Class World Championships in December 2019 despite medical advice.
Zajac has received numerous accolades for his contributions to sailing. Along with his Nacra 17 crewmate Tanja Frank, he was named the 2016 Team of the Year by the Austrian Sports Journalist Association. This recognition highlights his dedication and skill in the sport.
Since 2017, Zajac has been competing with Barbara Matz in the Nacra 17 class. He previously won a bronze medal in this class at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics with Tanja Frank. Zajac values Matz's determination and quick learning ability, which have made their partnership successful.
