He began weightlifting at the age of 10. He found the sport fun, which motivated him to pursue it seriously. Representing the Fujian club in China, he has been coached by Chen Wenbin, also from China.

During the 2002 Asian Games, he set a new record with a 130kg snatch lift. This lift not only set a new Asian Games record but also equalled the overall Asian record. Additionally, he set new marks for his clean & jerk lift and total lift weight.
He has also achieved success at the Junior World Championships. He has twice been a silver medallist at this event, showcasing his consistent performance on the international stage.
Outside of weightlifting, he enjoys listening to music, shopping, and drinking tea. These hobbies provide him with relaxation and balance in his life.
