Yana Shemyakina Biography

Shemyakina's dedication paid off when she won gold in individual epee at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. This victory marked her as the first fencer representing Ukraine to win an individual gold medal at the Olympics. Additionally, she became the first female fencer from Ukraine to win an individual Olympic medal of any colour.
