Shetty follows a rigorous training regime, dedicating up to five hours each day split across two sessions. His dedication has paid off with notable achievements. He was part of the Indian team that won gold at the 2022 Thomas Cup in Bangkok, Thailand. Additionally, he secured the men's doubles title at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

Injuries and Setbacks

Despite his successes, Shetty has faced challenges. A herniated disc in his back forced him and his doubles partner, Satwik Rankireddy, to miss the 2022 German Open in Mulheim. In 2021, illness caused him to withdraw from the Sudirman Cup in Vantaa, Finland.

Awards and Milestones

In recognition of his contributions to badminton, Shetty and Rankireddy received the Arjuna Award from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in India in 2020. The duo made history by becoming the first Indian badminton players to win a medal in men's doubles at the World Championships, securing bronze at the 2022 edition in Tokyo, Japan.

They also became the first men's doubles team from India to win a medal at the Commonwealth Games by claiming silver at the 2018 Games in Gold Coast, Australia. They followed this up with India's first gold medal in men's doubles at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Future Ambitions

Looking ahead, Shetty aims to win gold at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. He also has his sights set on competing at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Doubles Partnership

Shetty's partnership with Satwik Rankireddy began in 2016 under coach Tan Kim Her's guidance. Initially hesitant due to their previous partnerships, they faced early challenges. However, after winning a small tournament in Mauritius, their confidence grew. Since then, they have won several tournaments together.
