OUT! Caught. Yamin Ahmadzai to George Dockrell. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot pushing, outside edge to wicketkeeper, by Khali. Relief for Afghanistan right on the stroke of the tea break. Dockrell poked at this well away from his body with hard hands and the keeper did the rest. Ahmadzai is able to polish off the innings, just what he was brought into the attack for.

Tim Murtagh and George Dockrell have fought hard this afternoon for Ireland, putting on a partnership of 87 to frustrate Afghanistan. At 85/9 it looked as though they wouldn't even make it to three figures, but Murtagh in particular played some aggressive strokes to shift the momentum. You would suggest that 172 all out is still a below par total, however, with the surface playing nicely for batsmen. It will be very interesting to see how the response begins this evening.

OUT! Caught. Stuart Thompson to Wafadar. Short, outside off stump on the back foot Steer, Gloved to second slip, by Balbirnie. Guided straight to the lone slip fielder, joy for Ireland as they finish off the Afghanistan innings. They will have to face 12 overs in response this evening.

Rahmat Shah's stoic 98 plus half centuries from Hashmatullah Shahidi and Asghar Afghan have given Afghanistan a more than useful lead of 142 runs. At one stage it looked as though it could be much more, however Ireland fought hard once they broke the big third wicket partnership. Everyone chipped in with the ball in a disciplined display, now they need a much better batting effort second time around. The hosts know that a couple of wickets this evening will put them well on course for victory.

OUT! Caught. Stuart Thompson to Asghar Afghan. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, bottom edge to wicketkeeper, by Poynter. Poynter tumbles forward to safely pouch his first Test catch, a smart one because it was always dying on him. The ball was there to be hit but Asghar was surprised by the lack of bounce and could only get a little nick on it. Delight for Ireland, they know that their marathon fielding effort is almost over.

SIX! George Dockrell to Asghar Afghan. Stock length ball, outside off stump down the track driving, well timed in the air under control over long on for 6 runs. Asghar continues to strike the ball with immense power, this might be his biggest six so far. He is finding the boundary regularly and the lead is quickly swelling.

OUT! Caught. Yamin Ahmadzai to Tim Murtagh. Short, down leg side on the back foot pulling, top edge in the air uncontrolled to deep mid wicket, by Zurmatai. One shot too many from Murtagh and he's got to go. It was short and he couldn't resist a big swipe, it ballooned up for a simple catch in the deep.

Afghanistan will require 147 runs for their first ever Test victory. It could have been much better for the hosts but another eleventh wicket partnership frustrated them after Rashid Khan had picked up a five wicket haul. Ireland battled hard with the bat, now they will have to be at their absolute best with the ball to put pressure on the hosts.

FOUR! James Cameron-Dow to Hashmatullah Shahidi. Stock ball back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, well timed in the air under control past deep square leg for 4 runs. That's the moment, joy for Afghanistan! Amazing scenes in Dehradun.

Afghanistan have created history by registering their first Test victory, beating Ireland by seven wickets in Dehradun. It looked like it could be a tricky target but Rahmat Shah and Ihsanullah calmed the nerves with a superb 139 run partnership. Rahmat was probably the difference between the two sides over the course of the match, his patient first innings 98 set things up as the hosts built a sizeable lead. Rashid Khan was another standout performer, bowling beautifully on the third day to claim a maiden Test five wicket haul. Ireland will reflect that they didn't score enough first innings runs, despite a swashbuckling fifty from number eleven Tim Murtagh. After winning the toss, 172 was a way below par total on a placid pitch and left them always fighting to stay in the game. Nonetheless, they did themselves proud and showed admirable improvement in the second dig. It's all about Afghanistan now though, back home they will be celebrating from Kabul to Kandahar after an amazing journey to get Test status. In Dehradun the party will go long into the night.

OUT! Run Out. James Cameron-Dow to Mohammad Nabi. Stock ball half volley, middle stump on the front foot sweeping, to fine leg for 1 run, fielded by Murtagh, by Poynter. What is going on? This is ridiculous. Nabi tries to steal a second but it never looked likely. Perhaps he wanted to keep the strike to try and hit the winning runs. Suicidal running in the end. Murtagh did well to fire in the throw but the fault lies entirely with Nabi.

OUT! Stumped. James Cameron-Dow to Rahmat Shah. Stock ball back of a length, outside off stump down the track Slog, missed to wicketkeeper, by Poynter. Rahmat Shah, what have you done? He's been batting so well but aims a filthy swipe to try and finish it and gets beaten by the turn. Poynter has ample time to remove the bails, a consolation wicket for Ireland. A rush of blood from the batsman.

FOUR! Andrew Balbirnie to Ihsanullah. Off break back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, well timed past deep cover for 4 runs. Balbirnie is a part-time bowler at best, he's been brought on to tempt the batsmen into doing something silly. Ihsan sees it as an opportunity to hit some more boundaries.
