  • Afghanistan have won their last two men's Test matches, after losing their inaugural fixture in the format against India in June 2018.
  • West Indies have lost three of their five men's Test matches in 2019 (W2), despite winning the coin toss on all five occasions in that span.
  • Afghanistan have a seven-wicket victory (v Ireland in March 2019) and a loss to India by an innings and 262 runs (June 2018) from their two previous men's Tests in India; they lost the toss on each occasion.
  • West Indies are winless in their last 10 men's Tests in India (D2, L8), they haven't won a Test match in the country since December 1994; however, this will be the first time they've faced a side there other than the host nation.
