Stuart Broad to Shaun Marsh. Yorker, off stump on the front foot driving, to mid off for 1 run, direct hit by Anderson.

Steve Smith calls in his troops, putting an end to England's misery in the field. They toiled away for 149 overs and will no doubt be pretty weary, not ideal to face a fired up Aussie attack under lights. Shaun Marsh charges off to rapturous applause after finishing on a phenomenal unbeaten 126.

  • 148.5

Stuart Broad to Shaun Marsh. Yorker, outside off stump on the front foot pushing, to extra cover for no runs, fielded by Anderson.

  • 148.4

SIX! Stuart Broad to Shaun Marsh. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control over long off for 6 runs. Absolute carnage at the Adelaide Oval, Marsh picks of a pair of resounding boundaries through the legside before launching a rocket straight back over Broad's head. Unbelievable stroke.

  • 147.2

SIX! Craig Overton to Nathan Lyon. Short, down leg side on the back foot pulling, well timed in the air under control over fine leg for 6 runs. It was only a matter of time before Lyon connected with one of his wild swings, and the connection is superb. The ball soars all the way over the fine leg rope much to the delight of the crowd.

  • 145.5

FOUR! Craig Overton to Shaun Marsh. Slower ball back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, top edge in the air uncontrolled past third man for 4 runs. Marsh swings hard and has a slice of luck as this flashes over the sparse slip cordon. This will be an especially entertaining period of play it seems.

  • 145.4

Craig Overton to Shaun Marsh. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Steer, to gully for no runs, fielded by Vince.

  • 145.3

Craig Overton to Shaun Marsh. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, to deep backward point for 2 runs, fielded by Ali.

  • 145.2

OUT! Caught. Craig Overton to Pat Cummins. Short, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to third man, by Malan. Australia show their intent right from the start of this session, they are looking to set up a declaration swiftly. Cummins perishes as a result, leaning back and flapping this straight down the throat of third man. Overton bags a third Test scalp on debut.

  • 145.1

Craig Overton to Shaun Marsh. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, to mid off for 1 run, fielded by Anderson.

  • 144.6

Chris Woakes to Pat Cummins. Short, down leg side ducked, Left to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Bairstow.

It's getting late in Adelaide so time for some dinner while the lights kick into action. That was a perfect session for Australia led by the obdurate Shaun Marsh. After battling through some tough periods late last night and early this afternoon, he took advantage of a tired bowling attack to compile a massively impressive fifth Test century. His partnership with Cummins has sucked all of the life out of England, and puts the hosts in a great position to take a new ball under lights tonight to wreak some havoc.

  • 144.5

Chris Woakes to Shaun Marsh. Short, outside off stump on the back foot Fended, thick edge in the air uncontrolled to third man for 1 run, dropped catch by Cook. This just epitomises England's day. Woakes bends his back to extract a rare piece of life from the pitch, taking Marsh by surprise and hitting the splice of the bat. The ball loops up towards gully, between two men, who between them manage to make a mess of it. Probably should've been Cook's catch, but Vince is guilty as well.

  • 144.4

Chris Woakes to Pat Cummins. Short, down leg side on the back foot pulling, to fine leg for 1 run, fielded by Malan.

  • 144.3

Chris Woakes to Pat Cummins. Short, down leg side on the back foot defending, to point for no runs, fielded by Stoneman.

  • 144.1

Chris Woakes to Pat Cummins. Short, outside off stump swayed away, Left to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Bairstow.

  • 76.1

OUT! L.B.W. Verified by umpire after REFERRAL. Nathan Lyon to James Anderson. Off break length ball, middle stump on the front foot sweeping, hit pad. Anderson swipes wildly across the line and that's an easy decision for the umpire, the finger goes up. Anderson asks for the review but Australia are already celebrating, they know they have their man. Ball tracking says it would've crashed into leg stump so that is the end of that. Warner and Bancroft sprint off the field meaning the hosts will not be enforcing the follow-on.

That was a pretty tame batting display by the tourists against a fired up Aussie attack. There was a lack of application, an unwillingness to get stuck in and blunt the attack as Marsh did so well yesterday. Australia were fantastic though, constantly threatening the batsmen and taking some blinding catches as well. A lead of 215 runs is monumental, giving Warner a license to thrill under the lights.

  • 74.4

OUT! Caught. Nathan Lyon to Stuart Broad. Off break back of a length, off stump on the back foot working, outside edge to wicketkeeper, by Paine. There's a third wicket for Lyon - all the talk about the quick Adelaide pitch and it's the spinner doing plenty of damage. Broad gets sucked into playing against the spin, and only manages to feather a thin one through to the keeper.

  • 71.6

Mitchell Starc to Stuart Broad. Back of a length, down leg side on the back foot working, hit pad to fine leg for 1 run, fielded by Hazlewood.

England have survived to the dinner break, something that didn't look too likely when Bairstow was out over an hour ago. Chris Woakes and Craig Overton constructed a feisty 66 run partnership, the highest of the innings so far, to deny the hosts. They handled the short ball well and were willing to attack when the opportunity arose, making the efforts of the top order earlier look all the more tame. Starc eventually broke the resistance with the third caught and bowled of the innings, leaving the tourists staring down the barrel of a huge first innings deficit.

  • 71.5

Mitchell Starc to Stuart Broad. Short, down leg side on the back foot Fended, missed to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Paine.

  • End of Over 58
Over 58. 7 runs. Bowler: Pat Cummins. England: 167/3 (rr 2.88)
  • 57.6

OUT! Caught. Craig Overton to Josh Hazlewood. Short, outside off stump on the back foot Fended, thick edge to gully, by Malan. Banged in short, Hazlewood doesn't know too much about it and is gobbled up at gully. That completes an outstanding effort by the visitors to give themselves a sniff of victory. 354 will be the target, so Australia still massive favourites.

Another incredible session and all of a sudden we have a game on our hands in Adelaide. The tourists continued where they left off under lights last night to skittle Australia for just 138, Anderson and Woakes the heroes with the ball. The former took his 25th Test five wicket haul and his first down under in a masterful display. England still have a mountain to climb but they've given themselves a chance, which is more than could have been hoped for when they crumbled with the bat yesterday. Australia might be rueing not enforcing the follow-on, but will still be confident with runs on the board. Another bowling display from the hosts like the one in the first innings, and it could be all over tonight.

  • 54.2

OUT! Caught. James Anderson to Mitchell Starc. Slower length ball, off stump on the front foot driving, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to mid off, by Ali. Taken at mid off, Starc has somewhat given his wicket away. That completes a five wicket haul for Anderson, his 25th in Tests and first in Australia. He perhaps just ran his fingers across this delivery meaning the left-hander was through the shot early, and Moeen accepted the opportunity with ease.

    Jonny Bairstow b Mitchell Starc 36 (57)

OUT! Bowled. Mitchell Starc to Jonny Bairstow. Back of a length, middle stump on the back foot defending, inside edge. Bairstow is late on the shot, beaten for pace, and drags it onto middle stump which goes for a walk. That's a comprehensive way for the hosts to complete a resounding victory, they take a 2-0 lead heading to the WACA.

What a Test match, once again Adelaide has served up a thrilling day/night contest. England retained hopes of a remarkable victory first thing today, but they were quickly dashed by a fired up Josh Hazlewood. He took two wickets in his first two overs, including the big one of Joe Root, as Australia romped home by 120 runs. Shaun Marsh's resolute first innings century feels like a long time ago now, but it set things up beautifully for the hosts and allowed their bowlers to take over. The tourists fought back through James Anderson and Joe Root, but Mitchell Starc's 5/88 polished things off nicely. Attention will turn to the Third Test in Perth next week, with England having it all to do.

  • 84.1

FOUR! Mitchell Starc to Jonny Bairstow. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed past deep cover for 4 runs. Spanked with authority, that's an incredible drive by Bairstow. He hasn't given up hope just yet.

OUT! Caught. Mitchell Starc to Stuart Broad. Seaming away half volley, outside off stump no foot movement defending, outside edge to wicketkeeper, by Paine. It was only a matter of time before this happened. Starc has been all over Broad, having him hop around the crease and looking extremely dodgy. This time the fuller length kisses the edge, Paine safely pouches it and Australia are on the verge of a big victory in Adelaide.

  • 80.5

FOUR! Mitchell Starc to Jonny Bairstow. In-swinging length ball, off stump on the front foot driving, well timed past long off for 4 runs. Bairstow will battle on for England, and this is quite the riposte to a fired up fast bowler. The right-hander strides forward and bunts this down the ground with a strong bottom-hand.

Craig Overton lbw b Mitchell Starc 7 (34)

NEW BALL. OUT! L.B.W. Mitchell Starc to Craig Overton. In-swinging length ball, off stump on the front foot defending, hit pad. That's absolutely plumb, no doubts about it as Starc ends Overton's resistance. This is a classic dismissal for the left-armer, making the new ball swing lavishly to trap the right-hander right in front of middle stump. Just two wickets left for Australia to wrap things up and take a 2-0 lead in the series.
