So the tourists finish on 222 on the back of half centuries by Kusal Mendis and Roshen Silva. Some handy lower order contributions helped them to a respectable total, after a middle order collapse threatened to skittle them for much less. Phew, take a breath. What a collapse that was, some outstanding bowling from Sri Lanka and some rather ordinary batting by Bangladesh. The hosts lost their last five wickets for three runs in just more than three overs. A remarkable period of play leaves the tourists with a healthy lead and a strong grip on this crucial deciding Test match.

339 is the target for Bangladesh, they will have to break plenty of records to get there. It will require a miraculous innings by at least a couple of their top order - they have the talent to pull it off but on this surface it's going to be an almost impossible task.

Sri Lanka have stormed to a massive victory in the Second Test against Bangladesh to win the series 1-0. A second batting collapse in the match, inspired by an incredible spell from debutant Akila Dananjaya, saw the hosts lose their last six wickets for just 23 runs. It was never going to be easy chasing more than 300 on a wicket offering prodigious turn, but Bangladesh folded meekly in the face of quality spin bowling. Rangana Herath chipped in with four wickets, becoming the most successful left-arm bowler in the history of Test cricket. Roshen Silva deserves plenty of plaudits as well, he made a classy half century in each innings with conditions really tough for batting. Next up in this series is two T20Is, starting on Thursday at this same ground.
