  • Bangladesh have won their last four Tests on the bounce against Zimbabwe, this after having won just one of their previous 10 (D3, L6).
  • This will be the first Test match played at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium; however, Bangladesh have lost just one of their previous seven games in their home nation against Zimbabwe (W4, D2), including wins in their last three such fixtures.
  • Bangladesh have notched five Test victories against Zimbabwe in their history in the format, as many as they have managed against all other teams combined (West Indies x2, Australia x1, England x1, Sri Lanka x1).
  • Bangladesh will be looking to avoid back-to-back Test defeats on home soil for the first time since a five-game losing streak from 2011 to 2012.
  • Zimbabwe are winless in their last 12 Tests (D1, L11); the last time they went longer without a victory was a 13-game stretch from 2001 to 2003 (D1, L12).
  • This will be Zimbabwe's 49th Test played away from home (including abandonments), having picked up just two victories from their previous 47 such fixtures; however, one of those wins came against Bangladesh at Chittagong in 2001.
  • Only against Pakistan (62.3) does Bangaldesh's Imrul Kayes have a better Test batting average than he does against Zimbabwe (45); Kayes knocked 130 runs in the first innings of his last appearance against Zimbabwe.
  • Zimbabwe's Craig Ervine is just 59 shy of his 1,000th run scored in Test cricket; however, he has surpassed this figure in only four of his previous 30 Test innings.
  • Bangladesh's Taijul Islam took 17 wickets in the 2014 Test series against Zimbabwe, the second-most of any player (Shakib Al Hasan 18) and more than any Zimbabwe player - indeed, it remains his most ever in a single Test series.
  • Zimbabwe's Sean Williams had a false shot rate of just 7.2% during the recently completed ODI series against Bangladesh, the lowest of any player in the series to have faced more than a single ball.
