  • Zimbabwe picked up a win in the first Test of this series, snapping a four-game losing streak against Bangladesh and earning their first win against the Tigers since April 2013.
  • Nine of the last 10 Tests played between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe to produce a result have been won by the team to bat first, including the last three meetings in succession.
  • Bangladesh’s winless run in Test cricket extends to their last eight games (D1, L7); the last time they went longer without a win in the long-form of the game was a 17-game stint from 2010 to 2013 (D2, L15).
  • Bangladesh have lost just one of their last four Tests at Shere Bangla National Stadium (W2, D1), and picked up a three-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in their only previous meeting at the venue in October 2014.
  • Zimbabwe will be searching for back-to-back Test victories for the first time since two wins against Bangladesh in 2001 and just the third time ever (beat India and Pakistan in 1998).
  • Zimbabwe have put themselves in prime position to pick up their first Test series victory in a multi-game series since 2004 (vs Bangladesh), and their first away from home triumph since 2001 (vs Bangladesh).
  • Victory for Zimbabwe in this Test would make it their eighth in 16 Tests against Bangladesh, a 50% win rate; against no other team do they have a win rate greater than 18%.
  • Bangladesh’s Imrul Kayes has a batting average of 38.00 against Zimbabwe, his best against any team against whom he has batted at least five innings.
  • Taijul Islam (Bangladesh) took figures of 11/170 in the first match of this series, his best ever figures in Test cricket - he’s now taken a total of 28 wickets against Zimbabwe, twice as many as he’s managed to take against any other team.
  • Zimbabwe’s Sean Williams knocked scores of 88 and 20 runs in the first Test; his total of 108 runs was his second most ever in a single Test and his most ever in a Test away from home.
