  • 49.6

Andrew Tye to David Willey. Yorker, outside off stump on the front foot driving, to extra cover for 1 run, fielded by Finch.

That was absolute mayhem from start to finish. England have destroyed the Australian bowling attack, cruising past the record ODI total they set on this same ground two years ago. Jason Roy (82) and Jonny Bairstow (139) set the tone, Alex Hales (147) continued the carnage, and Eoin Morgan (67) put the icing on the cake. The tourists must be shell-shocked, they have just suffered a battering in the field, run ragged by some brutal hitting. Phew, time to take a breath.

  • 49.5

OUT! Run Out. Andrew Tye to Joe Root. Slower length ball, to leg backing away Slog, missed to wicketkeeper, direct hit by Paine. Moeen tries to scamper through and pinch a bye, but Paine keeps his cool and underarms into the stumps. The batsman isn't even close to making his ground. Willey comes out to face the last ball.

  • 47.3

OUT! Caught. Jhye Richardson to Eoin Morgan. Length ball, to leg on the front foot flick, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to silly point, by Paine. And another one, Richardson is on a hat-trick now. Morgan cleared his front leg and was looking to pepper the crowd once more, but he could only spoon it straight up into the air. A quality little cameo from the skipper comes to an end.

  • 47.2

OUT! Caught. Jhye Richardson to Alex Hales. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to deep mid wicket, by Agar. Taken in the deep, Hales departs after a sensational 147. It seemed like he was just tiring a touch in the last few overs, and he lost his shape here trying to hit the ball too hard. Agar gobbles it up with no fuss but there is no celebration at all from the Aussies. They have taken a proper pasting.

SIX! Jhye Richardson to Alex Hales. Slower length ball, down leg side backing away flick, well timed in the air under control over deep backward square leg for 6 runs. There's the record, the highest ever total in ODI cricket and fittingly it is brought up with a six. Still plenty of time left for these two to mount a charge for 500.

  • End of Over 37
Over 37. 3 runs. Bowler: Adil Rashid. Australia: 239/10 (rr 6.46)
  • 36.6
Billy Stanlake st Jos Buttler b Adil Rashid 1 (4)

OUT! Stumped. Adil Rashid to Billy Stanlake. Googly length ball, middle stump down the track driving, missed to wicketkeeper, by Buttler. Another stumping to finish things off, Stanlake lured down the pitch and then left wondering how he missed the ball. That is an absolute hammering, England secure the series in style.

History has been made today at Trent Bridge as England took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series through one of the most complete ODI performances of all time. With the bat they were destructive and ruthless, piling on the runs without mercy as the visiting attack wilted. Jonny Bairstow and Alex Hales smashed their way to centuries, with Jason Roy and Eoin Morgan chipping in with glittering fifties. 481/6 is the highest ODI total of all time by quite a margin, which left Australia in need of a miracle. The tourists got off to a brisk start, but with the pressure of the required rate so high wickets began to tumble. Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid snared seven wickets between them as the hosts strangled the batsmen, eventually dismissing them for 239. The margin of victory is the largest for England in ODI cricket, while Australia leave with their tail between their legs after their biggest ever defeat. The series moves to Durham on Thursday, with the visitors in desperate need of a serious response.

Jhye Richardson st Jos Buttler b Moeen Ali 14 (25)

OUT! Stumped. Moeen Ali to Jhye Richardson. Off break length ball, outside off stump down the track driving, missed to wicketkeeper, by Buttler. This is a classic spinners dismissal to a lower order batsman. Richardson wants to smash this out of the ground and Moeen draws him into it with a loopy delivery. The ball dips and spins past the helpless swish of willow, and Buttler calmly knocks the bails off. England one wicket from a thumping win.
