  • West Indies’ five-wicket win in the second Test leaves them hunting for back-to-back wins against England in the same series for the first time since winning the first three of a five-Test series at home in 1994.
  • England’s next Test victory against West Indies will be their 48th; only against two other nations have they registered more wins in the long form of the game (108 wins vs Australia, 61 vs South Africa, also 48 v New Zealand).
  • The hosts are undefeated in each of their last seven Tests against the West Indies at Lord’s (W5, D2) with their last such loss at the iconic venue coming in 1988.
  • England are searching for back-to-back wins at Lord’s for the first time since 2013 after securing a 211-run win against South Africa in July this year.
  • West Indies have not won multiple Tests in the same series away from home against a team other than Bangladesh since winning two of a five-Test series against Australia in 1996.
  • West Indies are aiming to pick up a third Test victory in 2017; only twice in the 13 calendar years prior did they manage to win as many.
  • England have won the toss in eight of their last nine Tests, including each of the two Tests so far this series.
  • West Indies’ aggregate total of 749 runs in the second Test of this series was the most they’ve managed in a match since smashing 800 against Bangladesh in November 2012.
  • James Anderson needs just three more wickets to become the sixth player in Test history to take 500 wickets.
  • Joe Root has hit 109 boundaries (108 4s, 1 six) in Tests in 2017, more than any other player in the world and almost twice as many as any West Indies player (Roston Chase 55).
