  • 19.6

Chris Jordan to Kesrick Williams. Yorker, off stump no foot movement driving, to cover for 1 run, fielded by Morgan.

So Windies finish up on 176-9 on a freezing cold night in Durham. The hosts will probably be pleased with the way they came back into things after a brutal early assault by Gayle (40) and Lewis (51). Plunkett and Rashid were outstanding for England, taking three wickets apiece through the middle overs to drag their side back into the contest. Nevertheless, that is a decent total for the tourists and will take some chasing. Back shortly for the chase.

  • 19.5

Chris Jordan to Ashley Nurse. Full toss, middle stump on the front foot driving, to long on for 1 run, fielded by Hales.

  • 19.4

SIX! Chris Jordan to Ashley Nurse. Half volley, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, well timed in the air under control over long on for 6 runs. Nurse winds up and then gives this the treatment over long on. Jordan just missed his yorker and that allowed the batsman to get underneath the ball and clear the lurking fielder.

  • 19.3

Chris Jordan to Kesrick Williams. Length ball, outside off stump no foot movement Steer, to third man for 1 run, fielded by Curran.

  • 19.2

OUT! L.B.W. Chris Jordan to Jerome Taylor. Length ball, outside off stump on the back foot Slog, hit pad. Absolutely stone dead. An ugly hack across the line strikes Taylor right in front to give Jordon his first wicket of the night.

  • 19.1

Chris Jordan to Jerome Taylor. Full toss, outside off stump on the front foot driving, to backward point for no runs, fielded by Roy.

  • 18.6

Tom Curran to Ashley Nurse. Slower length ball, off stump on the front foot defending, back to bowler for no runs, fielded by Curran.

  • 18.5

Tom Curran to Jerome Taylor. Half volley, middle stump on the front foot driving, to long on for 1 run, fielded by Willey.

The rain is now hammering down in Durham, the umpires have tried their best to keep the players out there but now it is just too much. Hopefully this is just a passing shower and we can resume shortly.

The groundstaff have done their stuff and we are all set for a prompt resumption at Chester-le-Street. This is an important seven deliveries coming up, Windies will want to reach 180 but England will fancy bowling them out.

  • 18.4

Tom Curran to Ashley Nurse. Slower length ball, outside off stump on the front foot slog sweeping, mis-timed to deep mid wicket for 1 run, fielded by Jordan.

  • 18.3

OUT! Caught. Tom Curran to Rovman Powell. Slower length ball, off stump on the front foot Slog, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to deep mid wicket, by Jordan. Slower ball does the trick, Curran has taken some punishment tonight but now he can celebrate a wicket. That ends an impressive cameo by Powell, pushing the tourists towards a decent total. Jordan took the catch well considering the amount of rain coming down.

  • 18.2

SIX! Tom Curran to Rovman Powell. Full toss, to leg on the front foot pulling, well timed in the air under control over deep square leg for 6 runs. Filthy full toss, nailed miles back into the stands. The ball has started to get wet and it is causing issues for the bowlers. Powell is showing no mercy though, and rightly so.

  • 18.1

Tom Curran to Ashley Nurse. Half volley, off stump on the front foot driving, in the air uncontrolled to long off for 1 run, dropped catch by Plunkett. Almost a screamer taken by Pudsey sprinting in from long off. It's started to rain so that added an extra layer of difficulty to it, the ball just popped out as he dived forward.

  • 17.6

Chris Jordan to Ashley Nurse. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, to long on for 1 run, fielded by Hales.

  • 17.5

Chris Jordan to Ashley Nurse. Yorker, off stump backing away driving, mis-timed to point for no runs, fielded by Roy.

  • 17.4

APPEAL! Chris Jordan to Rovman Powell. Length ball, off stump on the front foot working, hit pad to slips for 1 run, fielded by Curran, appeal made for L.B.W.

  • 17.3

SIX! Chris Jordan to Rovman Powell. Slower ball back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, well timed in the air under control over deep mid wicket for 6 runs. That is a titanic blow by Powell, waiting deep in the crease for the slower ball and throwing the kitchen sink at it. Windies will want a few more of them before the end of the innings.

  • 17.2

  • 16.1

  • 15.6

OUT! L.B.W. Adil Rashid to Sunil Narine. Leg spinner length ball, off stump on the front foot slog sweeping, hit pad. That's plumb, an easy decision for umpire Robinson as Rashid finishes his spell with a wicket. Narine was looking for a big slog sweep, an ambitious stroke against the wily legspinner, and he was always in trouble once he made no contact with the willow.

  • 15.5

Adil Rashid to Rovman Powell. Leg spinner length ball, outside off stump on the front foot pushing, to deep cover for 1 run, fielded by Morgan.

  • 15.4

Adil Rashid to Sunil Narine. Googly length ball, off stump on the front foot pushing, to cover for 1 run, fielded by Plunkett.

  • 19.3
    Liam Plunkett b Carlos Brathwaite 18 (11)

OUT! Bowled. Carlos Brathwaite to Liam Plunkett. Length ball, off stump on the front foot Slog, missed. Leg stump goes for a walk as Plunkett can only swish at thin air, the World T20 champions have flexed their muscles in alien conditions tonight to win this one off T20I in Durham.

A comfortable victory in the end for the tourists, they will be delighted with that effort in freezing cold, slippery circumstances. They got off to an outrageous start as the dynamic duo, the master and the apprentice, Chris Gayle (40) and Evin Lewis (51) launched into a devastating attack. The hosts pulled things back through Liam Plunkett (3/27) and Adil Rashid (3/25), and then got off to their own blistering start courtesy of a boisterous Alex Hales (43). But things fell away for them once the spinners got to work, and in the end the West Indies bowling was clinical. That puts down a nice marker ahead of the five match ODI series starting on Tuesday.

OUT! Caught (Sub). Carlos Brathwaite to Jonny Bairstow. Slower ball back of a length, middle stump on the back foot pulling, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to deep backward square leg. The end is nigh now for England as their last hope Bairstow has to trudge off. He was looking to manufacture something over the legside but there was no pace to work with and it was a simple catch for the fielder.

  • 16.1

Carlos Brathwaite to Jonny Bairstow. Length ball, middle stump on the front foot Slog, to deep mid wicket for 2 runs, mis-fielded by Powell.

David Willey st Chadwick Walton b Sunil Narine 1 (3)

OUT! Stumped. Sunil Narine to David Willey. Off break length ball, middle stump down the track Slog, missed to wicketkeeper, by Walton. Willey departs now as England slip further into the mire. This was a bit of an ugly hack by the left-hander, charging down the pitch and missing the ball by some distance. Walton easily whips the bails off.

Adil Rashid c Chadwick Walton b Kesrick Williams 1 (2)

OUT! Caught. Kesrick Williams to Adil Rashid. Short, outside off stump on the back foot Fended, Gloved to wicketkeeper, by Walton. Another wicket, what an over that was by Williams. A double-strike to put Windies in charge of this contest. It's another fast bouncer that gets Rashid in an awful tangle, and the legspinner can only feather a glove through to Walton.

  • 14.5

Kesrick Williams to Jonny Bairstow. Slower length ball, outside off stump backing away driving, to cover for 1 run, shy attempt by Brathwaite.
