Mathivannan sparks the turnaround - IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans would have wanted a sharper start with the ball, as they struggled to find early breakthroughs and allowed the Spartans to reach 55/1 in the Powerplay. However, Mathivannan M changed the game with a superb middle-overs spell of 3/18, well supported by Mohan Prasath, who picked up 1/29. Pranav Ragavendra was expensive but chipped in with a wicket, while T Natarajan went wicketless and never quite found his rhythm. Ragupathy Silambarasan also made an impact, picking up a wicket and bowling a wicket-maiden in the 17th over to pull things back. A fighting total on the board - SKM Salem Spartans have posted a fighting total after opting to bat first, though they would have wanted a few more runs after the start they got. It summed up their season perfectly - flashes of brilliance, but rarely sustained for long. A solid 47-run opening stand, with Abishiek Selvakumar and Boopathi Kumar both getting into the late 20s, was followed by a dramatic collapse to 74/5. Karthick Manikandan and Eshwar M then steadied the innings with a crucial 59-run stand, with Karthick bringing up a fine half-century. M Mohammed added some late fireworks to push them beyond 160 and give the Spartans something to defend.

Spartans sigh off on a high - SKM Salem Spartans finally got it right with the ball, setting the tone with an early wicket from M Poiyamozhi. Karthick Manikandan and Eshwar M then steadied the innings with a crucial 59-run partnership, with Karthick scoring a fine half-century, before M Mohammad's late hitting took them past 160. IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans fought back through Mathivannan M, who returned an excellent 3/18, while Mohan Prasath and Ragupathy Silambarasan also chipped in with a wicket each to keep the Spartans in check.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Karthick Manikandan wins the award for his excellent knock of 57 off 40 balls. He says his mindset was to take the game as deep as possible, as he knew he could rotate the strike and then play the big shots towards the end. He adds that he remained adaptable to batting at different positions and was ready to make the most of every opportunity that came his way. On not bowling, he says it was simply a tactical call. Reflecting on the win after six straight losses, he says it was a tough pill to swallow, but the team kept playing for pride and finally got the result they were looking for.
Too much for Raheja to do alone - IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans got off to a flying start, racing to 31 in three overs, but Amit Sathvik could not stay much longer. They soon started to lose their way after the Powerplay. While wickets kept tumbling around skipper Tushar Raheja, who held one end together with a superb 75 off 43. With only S Mohammad Ali joining him and Amit in reaching double figures, Raheja was left with too much to do. He eventually fell under the mounting asking rate, sealing ITT's fate in the chase.
A win at last for Salem - SKM Salem Spartans finally have their first win of the season, ending a 10-game winless run that stretches back to last season. For Idream Tiruppur Tamizhans, though, this is a costly defeat as the heavy margin dents their NRR and drops them to fifth place. Their playoff fate is now out of their hands - they need the winner of Nellai Royal Kings and Siechem Madurai Panthers to win by a big enough margin to push their NRR below ITT's. It is a huge ask, but they can only wait and hope.
