  • India have won nine out of 11 men’s Test matches against Bangladesh (D2) including their last three on the bounce, the Men in Blue have however never won four such games on a streak against the Bangla Tigers.
  • India have won each of the four multi-game bilateral men’s Test series against Bangladesh including the three such series played in Bangladesh; this will however be the first such series in Bangladesh since India’s 2-0 win against the Bangla Tigers in January 2010.
  • India have lost each of their last three men’s Test matches played on the road with their last such victory coming in South Africa in Boxing Day Test match; the last time they went on a longer losing streak in away Tests was a five-game run from July 2014 to December 2014.
  • Bangladesh have registered eight losses from their last 10 men’s Test matches (W1 D1) including their last three on the bounce; the only win during this period was against New Zealand while travelling early this year.
  • Bangladesh are the only team against whom India have played more than one game in the format and are yet to face a defeat in men’s Tests; meanwhile, apart from India, South Africa and Pakistan are the only other team against whom the Bangla Tigers are yet to register a win in the format (min. 2 games).
  • India have struck a boundary once every 12 balls since the beginning of 2022 in men’s Test cricket, only England have a better rate during the same period than the Men in Blue (11.8).
  • Indian bowlers have a bowling strike rate of 50 in men’s Test cricket since the beginning of 2022, only behind South Africa who have averaged a wicket every 42 balls during the same period.
  • India’s Ravichandran Ashwin (442 wickets) is eight away from becoming the ninth bowler to scalp 450 wickets in men’s Tests; if he bags nine wickets in the game, he will leapfrog Nathan Lyon (450) to become the eight most leading wicket-taker in the format.
  • Najmul Hossain Shanto (913 runs) is 87 away from becoming the 17th Bangladeshi batter to reach to 1000-run landmark in men’s Test cricket; if he does achieve the feat in this game, he will also better his 2021’s tally of 398 runs in the format in a single calendar year (314 runs).
  • Rishabh Pant has scored 532 runs in men’s Test cricket since the beginning of 2022, the highest for any Indian batter during the said period; he has top-scored in seven innings since the beginning of 2020, the most by any Indian batter during the same period.
