Commentary

Suryakumar Yadav's maiden T20I century went in vain as Team India lost the third T20I by 17 runs.The right-handed top-order batter showcased his 360-degree hitting skills in the 3rd T20I between England and India in Nottingham. It is the first loss for India in 20 games under Rohit Sharma but the Men in Blue claimed the series 2-1.

Chasing a mammoth 216 in 20 overs, India could only manage 198/9 in stipulated 120 balls. Suryakumar scored 117 off 55 balls but he couldn't find much support from the other end.

SKY is the fifth Indian batter to slam a T20I ton. Itis the highest score by a player batting at number four or below from a full member nation surpassing Glenn Maxwell's 113* against India in Bengaluru in 2019.

With 65 required from the last 5 overs, England bowlers picked up wickets at regular intervals in the death overs and prevented the Indians from crossing the line.

Surya walked into the middle when the tourists were in dire straits but along with Shreyas Iyer (28 off 23 balls) he revived India's innings and kept them in the hunt.

Earlier in the day, Dawid Malan's 77 and Liam Livingstone's 42 helped England post 215/7 in the 20 overs after skipper Jos Buttler elected to bat first.
